A PIECE OF BREAD
During the bombing raids of the Second World War, thousands of children were orphaned and left to starve.
Many of those who were rescued and placed in refugee camps could not sleep at night. They feared waking up to find themselves again homeless and without food.
Finally someone had the idea of giving each child a piece of bread to hold at bedtime; it was a constant reminder that they ate that day and would do so again tomorrow.
It worked!
